People
People groups visits by person: one row each, whether or not they ever left an email. Find it under Visitors > People in Advanced view, or the Visitors entry (tab People) in Simple view. It needs the Session replays permission.
Step 1: The groups and the six numbers
The buttons at the top pick a group: Everyone, Customers, Left at checkout, Left a cart, Gave an email and Came back. They combine with your filters. Left at checkout can only exclude buyers if you have the Revenue & orders permission.
Six numbers sit above the list: people, how many came back, filled a cart, reached checkout, bought, and revenue. They count everyone over the period, not the group you picked.
Step 2: The list
Default columns are Person, Status, Visits, Last seen, Came from (with the most recent campaign), Product followed and Spent. Columns, Filters, segments, Online visitors only and the star work as on Visits.
Export offers three files:
- This list (CSV): your filters and columns, up to 5,000 people.
- All contacts (CSV) and All contacts (Excel): full identity (email, phone, name, city, country, how the email was captured, visits, orders, amount spent). These need the Customer data permission.
What this group does
Below the list, What this group does describes the group you picked, each number next to everyone else’s: pages in a typical visit, time on the store, scroll, share on a phone, whether they read shipping, returns or the size guide. Then They look at, They come from, Where they were when they left, Where they get stuck, What happened next (came back, bought afterwards, typical wait before buying) and Top clicked elements. Times are medians, not averages, so a tab left open for an hour does not skew them.
Step 3: A person's profile
Click a row to open the profile in a side panel. The list stays visible behind it, so you can move from one person to the next.
From top to bottom:
- Status: Customer, Reached checkout, Added to cart or Browsing, and Watch the recording.
- Added to cart: every product put in the cart, visit by visit. See Added to cart.
- Temperature: an estimate out of 100% of how likely this person is to buy, from what they did. 100% means they already bought.
- AI summary: a deep summary of all their visits (What they did, What got in their way, Signs they wanted to buy, How it ended, What to do). Each moment it cites opens the replay at that second. Rewrite asks for a new one. It is written from this person’s recorded visits only and uses your account’s AI requests; see AI top-ups.
- Compared with buyers: this person’s typical visit next to the typical buyer visit.
- Orders: each order number opens the order in your Shopify admin when your store is connected. Without Revenue & orders, a lock replaces the amounts.
- Products looked at, with links to the page on your store and to edit the product in Shopify.
- How they arrived and Every visit, each with Watch.
Block a visitor
Block this visitor stops recording their next visits (useful for you, your team or a competitor). Past visits stay. Only the owner or an admin can block; you can unblock in Settings, under Exclusions.
Step 4: Segments
Segments (Visitors > Segments, or the Saved groups tab in Simple) names a group of visits once so you can reuse it in Visits, People, Funnels and the event log. There are 14 ready-made segments, such as First time, Returning, Engaged, Bounced, Frustrated, AI referrals and Converted (all). Converted segments need the Revenue & orders permission.
Click + New segment to build your own: combine up to 20 conditions (event, source, device, country, UTM, entry, exit or visited page, duration, pages seen, visit number) with All conditions or Any condition, and choose who sees it: Only me or My team. A store holds up to 200 segments.
How emails get attached to people is covered in Identity capture.
