Form analytics
Form analytics follows how visitors move through the forms on your store: which fields they focus, which they fill, which they come back to, and where they leave. Find it under Pages > Form analytics in Advanced view, or the Issues entry (tab Forms) in Simple view. It needs the Session replays permission.
Whence counts the fields visitors focus, fill and leave, never what they type. Only the name of each field and its counters are stored.
Step 1: Forms by activity
The screen opens on Forms by activity, one row per form: Form, Started, Submitted, Rate and Most abandoned field. A form counts once per page view where a visitor focused one of its fields. Filter by period, device and page at the top, or pick All forms. Export CSV downloads the table.
Click a row (Open this form) to see its detail.
Step 2: The detail of a form
Five figures sit at the top:
- Started: page views with a field focused.
- Submitted, with how many left without sending.
- Submission rate: submitted out of started.
- Median time: from the first focus to the end.
- Most abandoned field: the last field touched before leaving.
Field funnel shows, of the visitors who started the form, the share who focused each field, then left it filled, then sent the form. The step where the bar drops the most is the field to look at first.
Fields lists each field with Focused, Filled, Avg. time, Refilled and Last before leaving. Refilled means typed into again after leaving it, often a sign of an unclear label or a rejected format, such as a phone number with spaces. The screen names the fields refilled most.
Watch sessions on this page opens Visits filtered on the form’s page, so you can see the hesitation for yourself.
When nothing shows
No form activity yet means no field was focused in the period, or on the page you picked. Try a longer period or all devices. If a form never appears, check that the tracker is installed on that page with Check your setup.
Checkout forms hosted by Shopify are not part of your store’s pages, so they do not appear here. Use Funnels to follow visitors through checkout.
