Change the app language

The Whence web app is available in five languages: English, Français, Español, Italiano and Deutsch. Each language is listed in its own name, so you can find yours even if the app is in another one.

Change your language

You can do it from two places.

Step 1: From the account menu

Click your avatar at the top right, then Language (it shows the current one, for example Language · English). Pick a language in the list.

Step 2: Or from Settings

Open Settings, tab General (“Your account, language and time zone”), and choose from the Language menu.

The page reloads in the language you picked.

Whose choice it is

The language is personal: “Whence shows its screens in this language for you. Other members of the account keep their own choice.” It is saved with your profile, so it follows you on every device once you sign in.

Until you pick one, Whence uses the language of your browser if it is one of the five, and English otherwise.

What follows your language

  • Every screen of the web app, and the sign-in and sign-up page (which has its own small language selector).
  • Numbers, amounts and dates, written the way your language writes them.
  • The emails Whence sends you (alerts, email reports): each recipient gets them in their own language, or the account’s language if they never chose one, or English.
  • In-app notifications in the bell.
  • The Engagement summary on Page insights, which is written in your language.

What follows something else

  • Your surveys: they follow the language of the page your visitor is reading on your store, not yours. Default labels (Next, Send, Close) are translated; the questions and texts you write stay as you wrote them.
  • The Whence app inside Shopify: it follows the language of your Shopify admin. The first time you open it, that language also becomes the account’s default language, used for emails to people who have not picked one. A choice made later is never overwritten.

What is not translated yet

  • The titles and advice of the nightly analysis, in Reports (under Fix first) and in email reports: they arrive in English.
  • The team invitation email, sent in a single language.
  • Names you or your team typed, such as alert, segment, funnel or event names: they stay as typed.
  • The names of plans (See, Connect, Decide), of Whence, and of ad platforms, which are never translated.

Prices are shown in US dollars in every language, for example $59. See Plans and prices.
