Added to cart

The Added to cart section lists each product a visitor put in the cart: its name, variant, quantity, price, the moment it happened, and the outcome, Bought or Abandoned. It sits at the top of the visitor’s details, just under their identity, so you see it without scrolling.

See what a visitor put in the cart · Video 0:17

Step 1: Where to find it

  • Beside a replay: on Visits, click a row. The details panel on the right shows what was put in the cart during this visit only. Click a time, such as 2:14, to jump to that moment in the recording.
  • In a person’s profile: on People, click a row. The section groups every visit that had a cart, under Visit of and its date. Clicking a time opens the replay of that visit at that moment.

If nothing was added to the cart, the section does not appear.

Step 2: How each line reads

A line reads, for example: 2:14 · Canvas tote · Natural · ×1 · $38.00 · Bought.

  • The time is counted from the start of the visit. Click it to move the player there.
  • Bought means the product is in the order linked to that visit. Abandoned means it is not.
  • If Whence knows a product went into the cart but did not receive its details, the line reads: Added to cart, but the product details did not reach Whence (the Web Pixel sends them).

Where the details come from

On Shopify, the product details come from the Whence Web Pixel. On other platforms, they come from the Whence conversion pixel installed on your site. If you see the message above often, check your installation with Check your setup.

Permissions

The section needs the Session replays permission. Price and outcome also need Revenue & orders: without it, they keep their place and show a lock. You never see a zero price or an Abandoned tag that would give away whether someone bought.

Other places “Added to cart” appears

  • The Cart step at the top of Visits, and Added to cart in the What happened column.
  • The Key event filter (Added to cart, Started checkout, Paid) in Visits and People.
  • The Added to cart step in Funnels and the Added to cart event in Events.

A visit’s status also says how far it went: Added to cart (“Picked something and left it. Intent was there.”), Reached checkout or Customer.
