Connect your ad platforms
Whence sends your store events to your ad platforms from its own server, so they count sales that browser pixels miss. You set each platform up once, in Conversions in the web app (its own entry in the Simple menu, under Marketing in the Advanced menu) or in Conversions sent to your ad platforms on the Whence home page in Shopify admin. Both show the same platforms and the same settings.
What every platform has in common
- Marketing consent only. Whence sends nothing for a visitor who did not give marketing consent. See Record without waiting for consent for the one exception you can turn on yourself.
- From the server. Orders are read from your store, joined to the visit that led to them, then sent. Funnel steps (product view, add to cart, checkout started, payment info) go out as they happen. Steps older than 6 hours and orders older than 72 hours are not queued.
- Email, phone and name are hashed before they leave Whence, in the format each platform asks for. Klaviyo is the exception: it expects them in clear to build the profile.
- Retries. If a platform does not answer or asks Whence to slow down, the event is sent again later, up to 6 attempts, with the same event ID, so it is never counted twice.
- One pixel or several. Each setup is a “pixel”. Use Add another pixel for a second ad account.
- Plan and rights. Sending comes with the Connect and Decide plans. Anyone with access to the screen can look; changing a setup needs the right to manage connections.
Not on Shopify? Purchases reach your ad platforms through the browser pixel only. Product views, carts and checkouts also go out from the server once the tag is on your site.
