Heatmaps
Heatmaps shows, for one page of your store, where visitors click, how far down they scroll and where the mouse travels. Find it under Pages > Heatmaps in Advanced view. In Simple view it has no menu entry: open it with Cmd+K (or Ctrl+K), or from Open heatmap on Page insights. It needs the Session replays permission.
Step 1: Start from the most viewed pages
The screen opens on Most viewed pages: rank, page, views, visitors, clicks, clicks per view, average scroll and LCP (loading speed at the 75th percentile). Pick the period (Today to Last 90 days) and the device at the top, and use Export CSV to download the table. The period is shared with Page insights, Form analytics and Elements, so moving between them keeps the same window.
Click a row, or search a page such as /products/ceramic-mug, to open its map.
Step 2: The map of a page
Choose the map type:
- Clicks: warm spots where clicks pile up. The densest area is the only red one. Most clicked here lists the top elements of the page, and All elements opens them on Elements.
- Scroll depth: bands from warm (everyone gets there) to cold (almost nobody scrolls that far), with the share written at each level. Half reach tells you the depth half the page views reach.
- Mouse movement: where the pointer rests and travels. Mouse movement is recorded on desktop only, so this tab is off for tablet and mobile.
Pick Desktop, Tablet or Mobile: each device has its own map, drawn at that screen width.
The page behind the map is a still snapshot rebuilt from an existing recording of that page. Nothing runs in it. If no recording of the page is available, the map sits on a neutral grid at the width of the device, and the screen says so.
When the map is empty
- No click measured for this page, device and period yet (or the same for scroll or mouse movement): try a longer period or another device.
- No page measured yet on the ranking: the tracker has not recorded clicks and scrolling in this period. Check the Install screen and Check your setup.
For the numbers of one page (views, bounce rate, time on page, speed), open Page insights under Pages. It links to the heatmap with Open heatmap and to the matching visits with Watch sessions. When AI is set up for your account, Engagement summary writes a short reading of the page; it uses your AI requests (see AI top-ups).
